This is old, but well, I don’t have the chance to write about it yet.
This year, Japan and ASEAN celebrated 40 years of cooperation.
In Jakarta, they held a small expo called Tohoku Experience, commemorating the tsunami disaster on 2011 (which this morning I mistakenly write “last year” to my proxy buying agent, sense of time is lost ^^; )
It showcased several famous cultural products from the Tohoku prefecture such as kokeshi dolls, akabeko, chagu chagu umako, hongo-yaki pottery, etc.
There’s also social media campaign, that offers souvenirs for peoples who uploaded pictures to the event’s Facebook page.
Apparently I came with the wrong expectation. The Jakarta Japan Matsuri’s whole week event involved a lot more Japanese community in Jakarta and has various booths on display. There’s also stage event. This one on the contrary is smaller and undermanned in comparison.
The real event is actually held on January 18th, an invitation-only reception. Well, it’s invitation only.
