Today, we’re checking an old title for re-release. The management seems to be trying to capitalize on old popular titles, those that are “true and tested” for lifeline. Well, the fact that the industry has changed also have part in it.
New titles are coming out like Soviet production line. Among it, the “quality” is getting less than what they used to be.
No, I don’t think so. But with so many coming at once, they have lost the closeness feeling. Back then, there’s only so much entertainment you can have and they’re your close friends. Now, they’re something off the shelf, regardless of quality.
Then from another field that became my hobby, camera. Retro camera design has been stirring the news, especially with Fuji’s new product.
What’s with that retro anyway ? Some that I’ve heard is…
Nowadays, the need for growth has became so ridiculous. Every year, the money must grow more and more. When it’s impossible to get the money from outside income, the ends meet with efficiency inside. Competition doesn’t help either as they just make the efficiency into something very crucial.
About long-lastingness. Not just the quality, but the desire to ensure future sales seems to drive products to be time-bombed to either have short lifespan or gets outdated easily. No more things that you can give to your children without paying for crazy expensive price that mortgage would last until your son and grandson’s generation.
Another reason: It’s just cool. I’m in this part. There are peoples who love classic tanks, WW2 era military uniforms, and although not really retro, Steampunk style. They give us a piece of dream about the Golden Age.
Yes, there are millions of peoples dying, after suffering for a long time. But it’s also an age where we can imagine there’s still adventure, something more to life than trying to meet the bottom line among competition in this dog eat dogs world. There’s big, stupid and extravagant things instead of minimalist and efficiency. At least, there’s already technology but we still can feel our human self.
This is not merely a nostalgia for those who actually lived a happy life back then. Even younger generation can imagine an age less greedy than now. They despised the modern age and how it’s run as a business instead of ideals.
Well, life is not about ideals but winner and losers after all.
